The Phillipsburg Football Program proudly supports former Stateliners who are currently competing at the NCAA and NJCAA level. Over twenty former Stateliner football players are participating collegiately at the FCS, Division 2, Division 3, and NJCAA levels. The following is a midseason report highlighting their accomplishments, as well as their institutions of higher learning.
NCAA FCS DIVISION
Starting at linebacker for the University of Maine, Taji Lowe (Junior) has recorded 23 tackles, 6.5 tackles for a loss, and 1 sack in four games this season for the 3-2 Black Bears. (Senior) Ryan O’Dowd is a kicker on the roster for Sacred Heart University. (Freshman) Frank Stettner is a defensive back on the roster for the 4-1 Towson Tigers, ranked #17 nationally. Lehigh University defensive lineman (Sophomore) Zach Troxell participated when the Mountain Hawks traveled to Annapolis to take on Navy.
NCAA DIVISION 2
Starting linebacker, Alex Annan (Junior) is the second leading tackler for the Bloomsburg University Huskies recording 48 tackles, 4.5 tackles for a loss, and 2.5 sacks. (Freshmen) offensive lineman, Anthony Capitini and linebacker, Sean Morro are both on the roster for the East Stroudsburg Warriors. Teammate and wide receiver, Anthony Guarino (Junior) is third in receiving yards for East Stroudsburg University with 13 receptions, 236 receiving yards, and three touchdowns. Matt Yanes (Junior) has recorded 37 tackles, 3 tackles for a loss, and 1 sack from his defensive lineman position for Bentley University.
NCAA DIVISION 3
Offensive lineman, Caleb Calabro (Senior) has started four games for Southern Viriginia University. Jake Clifford (Senior) has caught 9 passes for 156 yards and 1 touchdown as a wide receiver at Ursinus College. Teammate, Jim Marinelli (Junior) has started all six games at center for the 4-2 Grizzlies. Offensive lineman, Zach Cyphers (Junior) is on the roster for the undefeated Muhlenberg College Mules who are currently sitting at 6-0. Stephen Davis (Freshman), defensive back starts on special teams for the 4-1 Fairleigh Dickinson Devils and has recorded 8 tackles this season. Starting punter and kicker, Billy Oertel (freshman) had a punt of 73 yards for William Patterson University setting a school record. Manny Romero (Sophomore) wide receiver, has 21 receptions, 432 receiving yards, and 7 touchdowns in four games this season. Manny set the school record in receiving yards in a single game this season with 272 for Norwich University. Brothers, Blaise and Kyle Santini (Sophomores) play for Kean University. Blaise has contributed on the offensive line in four games this season and wide receiver, Kyle has 4 receptions for 50 yards for the Cougars. Elian Telford (Freshman) has played on the offensive line in five games for Salve Regina University.
NJCAA DIVISION
Defensive lineman, Jaleel Boothman (Freshman) has participated in one game for the undefeated Lackawanna College Falcons (6-0) and recorded a tackle. Brothers Jevon, strong safety and Jalen, defensive lineman both freshman are at Lackawanna College as well.
